Michael Addamo Wins the Coveted Poker Masters $100,000 Purple Jacket

The scheduled poker masters event came to an end on Sunday. It was a series of 12 matches, leading to winning the coveted purple jacket.

All the while, it appeared as though Daniel Negreanu would win the purple jacket following his increased leaderboard point at some point during the schedule. But, Michael Addamo won the last two events back to back, raising his points total and ultimately the coveted prize.

More About the Last Two Events

Michael had only played one event before the last two on the schedule and had not cashed in. He returned for the final two events hoping to scoop the top prize. Michael is a two-time winner of the World Series of Poker bracelet.

He won the $50,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em match on September 18, 2021, earning $680,000. The following day, he won the second prize of $1,160,000 from playing the $100,000 high roller no-limit hold ’em event. Michael is the only player to win two titles in the 12-event 2021 poker masters tournament.

Michael faced Nick Petrangelo in a heads-up play. By the time it began, Petrangelo was out-chipped by 4:1, which dropped further by the time the final hand was dealt. Eventually, Addamo called with sevens and deuces to lock up his title and pot.

Winning the highest-stakes events led to Michael being crowned the 2021 poker masters winner. Addamo secured the Purple Jacket and an additional $50,000, totaling his win to $1,840,000.

When asked how he felt about his win, Michael said his last two wins were among the best in his career. Addamo confirmed he had never won two large tournaments in quick succession, stating these $50,000 and $100,000 no-limit hold ’em were the best. This win was the fourth largest of Addamo, bringing his total career earnings to $14.5 million.

Poker Masters Leaderboard Points

The points earned during the 2021 poker masters played a big deal in placing players in various positions. These points were made based on cash finishes. Michael got 808 points from the last two events, sealing the deal for him.

Nick Petrangelo came in second for earning 402 points. He cashed out in three poker masters events.

Lou Garza took third place with 376 points. Daniel, who hoped more than any other player to take first place, finished fourth with 372 points. Daniel won one tournament and cashed out three times.

With Brock Wilson taking fifth place with 358 points, Chris Brewer closed the top six with just one point behind Wilson. These leading players did not have it easy reaching the top. Instead, they had to battle through a field of tough competitors.

It was a good show to follow, seeing the action in the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas. Only the best players featured in the tournament.

Meanwhile, PokerGO is preparing another event, the $300,000 Super High Roller Bowl. The tournament is happening from September 29 through September 29, 2021. Most of the players featured in the 2021 Poker Masters will appear in this event.

As a big buy-in event, you can expect incredibly entertaining action as players battle to get the top prize. For now, we wait to see how much prize pool will be created and who will win the top place.
