Mark Davis and Chance Kornuth Win at the World Poker Tour in Las Vegas

The World Poker Tour (WPT) had unfinished business as it ended its two last major tour stops. Each of them had a final table that played in Las Vegas.
The WPT saved several tables for its huge stage, in the HyperX Esports Arena at Luxor, Vegas just like it did in past seasons. Poker diehards watched the action as players battled it out under an actual stage’s lights. Also, it was filmed for television broadcasts.

The WPT Seminole Final Table

Acton began in April at the Seminole Hard Rock, Florida as the WPT stepped in for the Main Event and the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown festival. It had 2,010 entrants who created a $3,000,000 guarantee. Yet, it ended up being the second biggest WPT Main Event field as the prize pool stood at $6,432,000.

Darren Elias has a stack lead at the final table with four past WPT titles. He held this record and the most cashes in the tour as he made his 45th World Poker Tour cash in the SHRPS. Mark Davis followed him closely but Viet Vo was between the two players trying to win his first WPT title.

Marcos Exterkotter held the fourth stack position as Andrew Barfield and Michael Laufer followed him. Laufer made a move after six hands and Davis’ A-9 beat his pocket threes after an ace hit the turn.

Elias continued chipping up as he got over half of the table’s chips with 30 hands left. Besides, Davis took on Barfield as he used pocket sevens to move all-in. The former showed K-Q, created a straight on the river, and hit the king on a flop.
Elias and Vo played in the day’s 40th hand. An A-J-7 flop occurred and made Vo shove the remaining 7.5 million chips. Elias used A-4 of diamonds to call and Vo revealed A-8.

None of the players had hearts but Elias held two diamonds. A diamond appeared on three on the turn as the river had a diamond deuce that sent Vo packing in fourth place.

Exterkotter took the next big risk as he used A-4 to push. Elias used pocket sevens to call what a flip occurred. Even so, the board was blank thus sending Exterkotter home in the third position as sevens was the best available hand.

Elias Faces Davis

Elias had 63.7 chips when action on the day’s 54th hand began while Davis held 36.75 million chips. The former extended his lead fast while the latter hesitated to make a big move. He almost equaled Elias’ stack on the 91st hand.

Davis surprised many viewers when he overtook Elias’ stack and widened his gap. Both of them changed the chips lead severally and Q-8-5 flop having two clubs started the 150th hand. Davis wagered while Elias called and saw a ten on the turn.

Elias used 9-7 to shove 9.3 million chips for a straight draw. Davis used 8-5 to call for a flopped two pair. Unfortunately, a seven surfaced on the river and eliminated Elias thus preventing him from winning his fifth World Poker Tour title and Davis got his second.

WPT held a WPT Main Event and festival a few days ago at Oklahoma’s Choctaw Durant property. It had 787 entrants, a $2 million guarantee and $2,754,500 prize pool.
