Ka Kwan Lau Tops EPT Online $10,300 PLO High Roller

The 2020 PokerStars European Poker Tour is taking place on the web, and the second event wrapped up recently, with Ka Kwan “kaju85” Lau topping the field of 70 entries.

EPT Online 02: $10,3000 PLO (6-Max, PLO High Roller) offered a total of $700,000 in prizes, and Lau was the one to claim the lion’s share from it.

His final opponent was Laszlo “omaha4rollz” Bujtas. In fact, Lau was close to leaving the game when he staged a big comeback in the heads-up and managed to win a total of $188,937 in the end, leaving Bujtas with the consolation prize of $141,233.

Bouncing Back from a Rough Start

Ka Kwan Lau currently resides in Spain, where he spent most of his life, even though he was born in Hong Kong. He had a small lead over Bujtas when the two players started the heads-up part of the tournament. However, he immediately started losing, and the Hungarian player managed to gain a 19-1 lead, being one step away from winning the prestigious event.

But Lau was a hard nut to crack. He managed to pull off three double-ups in a short period and managed to come back to the game in an epic style. On top of that, he secured himself a victory and the lion’s share of the prize pool.

The Final Table Action

The final day started with Laszlo Bujtas assuming the chip lead and staying that way for most of the game. The only player who came close to him was Ka Kwan Lau, who managed to flop a top set in a five-way limped pot, which caused the elimination of Rob “btoelrob” Hollink. The player from the Netherlands ended up in the seventh position, earning a total of $32,964.

The next one to hit the rail was Andreas “Skjervoy” Torbergsen from Norway, who lost all of his chips soon after Hollink. The Norwegian had to settle for sixth place and the prize of $44,098.

Fifth place was reserved for a player named Dante “dantegoyaF” Goya, who represented Brazil in this event, and who ended up with $58,993 in his pocket. The first three players hit the rail pretty fast, and the play was down to the top four players.

A player from the UK nicknamed “d.apollo777” started their day with the shortest stack. With just 13 BBs, they managed to get on their feet and avoid being eliminated first. However, they were eliminated (ultimately finishing in fourth place) after Bujtas managed to hit a full house. Therefore, “d.apollo777” had to settle for fourth place and the prize of $78,918.

The last player to leave the game before Bujtas and Lau engaged in a heads-up duel was Eelis “EEE27” Pärssinen from Finland, who earned a total of $105,574. As soon as he left the game, Bujitas played one hand and assumed the chip lead, which was supposed to bring him victory. However, Lau was full of surprises and managed to turn things around.
