The 2022 Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) Venetian Main Event was the last no-limit hold’em tournament poker competition last year. It attracted 643 entrants, and Jacob Perry was the last player standing, and he won $99,084.
The New Jersey resident had the largest payday in his poker career. The Hendon Mob shows that he has over $470,000 in career cashes. Moreover, he amassed 840 Card Player Player of the Year (POY) points.
Perry made his third POY-qualified score in 2022. He has 978 total points and isn’t among the top 600 in the POY standings that Global Poker presents.
The poker tournament lasted for three days. 71 entrants advanced to Day 2 even though 643 players were interested in two starting flights. They included Barry Shulman (two-time bracelet champion), Joao Simao (two-time bracelet winner), Jeremy Ausmus (five-time bracelet champion), Shannon Shorr, Kyna England, Ryan Laplante (bracelet champion), Josh Reichard (13-time World Series of Poker Circuit ring champion), Roland Israelshvili, Joseph Di Rosa Rojas (bracelet champion) and Mitch Halverson (bracelet winner).

Action at the Final Table
Players set the final table a few minutes after 6:00 p.m., with Ezequiel Waigel having the largest stack. Peter Mullin used pocket sixes to face Abhisek Panda’s A-K and Tamas Lendvai’s A-Q. Unfortunately, he lost three-way all-in. Lendvai’s aces and queens won.
Mullin finished ninth and won $10,548. Lendvai followed him in eighth place after Panda’s A-K beat his K-Q suited race. Richard Alati used A-3 to move all in and face Angela Jordison’s pocket kings, but he didn’t improve.
Alati finished in the seventh position, and he won $17,064. Kenny Huynh followed him in sixth place after Panda’s A-Q defeated his K-10. The former made kings up, while the latter reduced the field to five after making broadway by the river.
Jordison exited the tournament in fifth place after her A-10 lost to Waigel’s A-J in a blinds battle. Both of them didn’t improve, hence ending Jordison’s run. It was her eighth time this year to reach a final table.
The player won one title and over $477,000 in POY-accrued earnings. Jordison is the 33rd player in the POY race standings with 3,610 total points.
Waigel’ A-Q bested pocket sevens in a battle against Nipun Java. It earned him a vital chip lead before three-handed action began. Panda battled it out for the other big hand.
Even so, Waigel used an ace kicker and top pair of queens to move all-in. He later got himself against Panda’s top set. Waigel drew dead with one card and finished third with $58,016.
Panda got in a heads-up battle against Perry with an 11,000,000:4,900,000 chip advantage. The latter made a flush and pulled even hence getting a slight lead.
Both players started discussing a deal that would eventually end the tournament earning Panda $97,612. Perry won $99,084 and the title.
