Gus Hansen is one poker pro who is used to competing in sponsored events and was supposed to log online recently to compete in a Full Tilt Promotion. The pro was a no-show and now everyone in the industry is questioning, what’s up with Gus?
About a week ago Hansen was supposed to compete in a Full Tilt Poker special event, according to PokerNewsDaily, and take on fellow poker pro Viktor Blom. The two were supposed to be part of a heads up style promotion which would take place over three SNG tournaments. The railbirds at FTP would determine the format of the SNGs and the winner would earn $50,000 with the loser choosing to play 1000 hands of micro-stakes RAZZ or to sing the National Anthem and have it videoed for the world to see.
Hansen and Blom are part of The Professionals at Full Tilt and expected to perform, especially when scheduled. Fans who had turned in were surprised to see Jake Cody, a Team Poker Stars Pro, hit the felt to take on Blom instead of the scheduled Hansen. Cody lost each SNG to Blom and would not have to fulfill the loser requirements as previously stated.
Full Tilt did not explain the switch from Hansen to Cody but it has been easily seen that Hansen has been going downhill for some time. In the past few years, the pro has not been competing in live play as he used to. He also has lost millions while playing online and cannot seem to catch a break. With his no-show at this recent, Hansen’s sponsorship by Full tilt may be in question and the pro may soon find himself without a position at the top poker site very soon.
