After taking much heat for announcing the Main Event of the Partouche Poker Tour would not have the €5,000,000 guaranteed prize pool as originally announced, Patrick Partouche finally changed his mind and added the money needed to meet the guaranteed prize pool.
The event had a buy-in of €8,500 and players were expecting to be playing for the €5 million prize. However, just last week, Partouche announced that the guaranteed would be only €4.2million+. Players were extremely upset and apparently Partouche saw the error in his ways so he added the €735,420 to the prize pool to meet the €5 million prize pool.
Partouche had also announced that this event would be the last tournament of the tour. Partouche recently released a statement that said the guarantee of 5 million was never set in stone but he has decided to meet the guarantee after players were wrongly convinced that the prize pool was the 5 million. Jean-Jacques Ichai, the director of the marketing for the tour, resigned but Ichai’s resignation letter will not be accepted.
Since the prize pool was changed, the final fifty seven players who earned a cash out had their payouts adjusted. The event has now finished up and Ole Schemion was able to take the first place win after taking down Karen Sarkisyan in heads up play. In the end, Schemion held the chip lead by a mile and still offered Sarkisyan a deal. It looked as though the two were going to cut a deal but in the end, they decided to play it out.
On the final hand, the board ran 9-8-7-6 and Sarkisyan went all in with top pair and a nut flush draw. Schemion already had K-2 suited and held the nut flush. The Jack on the turn did nothing for Sarkisyan and Schemion was the final winner of the Partouche Poker Tour.
