Winning a gold bracelet in a World Series of Poker event is a huge honor, and the number of players who have managed to achieve it is not that high. However, if you manage to win a bracelet more than once, you definitely deserve to be considered an elite poker player, and Kahle Burns just managed to make it to that list.
By winning Event No. 13: €2,500 Short Deck, which is a part of the World Series of Poker Europe 2019, Burns became one of the players to hold two bracelets. The event hosted a total of 179 entries, and only Burns came away with the biggest share of the prize pool along with the bracelet. The total amount of money that Burns managed to snatch is €101,843.
What’s more amazing about this player is that he actually did not have to wait long for his second bracelet, as he managed to win his first one in the same tournament. As a matter of fact, just a week ago, Burns won the €25,500 Platinum High Roller, where he won €596,883. One thing is certain: He is definitely going to walk out of the tournament with a hefty reward.
Commenting on his play, Burns stated that the event felt like one of those where he had managed to avoid “all the coolers as well as all the post-flop coolers.” Moreover, Burns doesn’t shy away from the fact that the element of luck was very present, as he doesn’t have a lot of experience playing short deck poker.
In fact, he stated that the first time he had had an opportunity to take part in a short deck game was actually a couple of months before the 2019 WSOPE. As it happens, he tried the game at King’s Resort, which is the same place where the WSOPE takes place every year.
The Final Table Results
To win the event, Burns had to face some really stiff competition, as the final table consisted of several poker professionals who all aimed to snatch the biggest portion of the prize pool.
The first one to hit the rail was Pierre Neuville from Belgium, who managed to win a total of €10,939. He was soon followed by a player from Israel, Oshri Lahmani, who ended up sixth for €14,764. Fifth position went to Vladimir Peck, a player from the US, who won €20,444.
An Italian named Federico Anselmi ended up fourth, and his paycheck was signed at €29,027. The last player to hit the rail before heads-up play was Felix Schulze, a German player who managed to win €42,233.
Burns’ last opponent was probably the toughest one. He is one of the most popular poker players nowadays, Manig Loeser. Nevertheless, Loeser did not manage to stand up to Burns, who obviously played very well. The second-place player won a sum of €62,929.
