Event #51 of the 2009 World Series of Poker has ended and it was German native Carsten Joh who came out victorious. The $1,500 no limit hold’em event had 2,781 players competing and for outlasting the field Joh earned $664,426.
Joh was not the front runner of the tournament but once five handed play began, it was time for him to begin his run for the bracelet. Joh was the short stack and he decided to go all in against Steven Levy. Joh held A-J while Levy held A-K. Joh’s cards were diamonds and he got runner-runner flush to take the pot and start his way to the first place finish.
When three handed play began Joh was the short stack once again. Joh worked his way to taking all of David Walasinski’s chips and knocking him out in third place he would then begin heads up play against Andrew Chen.
Heads up play would last one hour before Joh would take his first WSOP bracelet win. Joh gained a 5-1 chip lead and he won the final hand with pocket sixes against Chen’s 10-9.
