California Residents Accepting of PokerStars According to Recent PPA Survey

PokerStars LogoJust a few days ago, it was brought to light that several Indian tribes in the state of California had come to an agreement of sorts for online gaming legislation. Included in this agreement was a bad actor clause which would push PokerStars out of the state. However, PokerStars had already partnered with several card rooms as well as the Morongo Band of Mission Indians for online poker purposes. This recent development did cause some issue.

At the same time the Poker Players Alliance released the recent findings of a survey they completed in the state of California. PokerStars was the focus of the survey and the PPA stated they conducted the survey after hearing from players about the future of PokerStars in the US.

The results of the survey were very positive for PokerStars in the state. 1,229 people gave their two cents about the issue and 92% stated they had played real money or play poker at PokerStars in the past. 82% stated they had a very good or excellent experience at the site. 82% also responded that they agreed or strongly agreed that PokerStars demonstrates integrity and when operating in the US, the company was excellent or considered very good.

The PPA then asked those in the survey if they would like to see PokerStars allowed in to the state of California and 95% agreed that yes they would like to see the company in the state. The same number also said they would play at PokerStars or a site with PokerStars software.

This survey was released on June 2nd which came at the same time as the new agreement between the many tribes in California. It is interesting that the tribes want to keep PokerStars from operating in the state, especially after the top online poker room has partnered with one tribe in particular. Players seem to be fine with the option and as PokerStars is considered the best in the industry, one would think the state would want to be the first to allow the poker giant to offer services.

PokerStars will have to continue to fight as they seem to face the same obstacles in every state in which they try to be accepted into the online gambling market in the US.
