For a few weeks now, the Santa Ysabel Tribe in California has offered an online poker experience; with free play mode only, for individuals in the state. The online poker site had full intentions of going live with real money gaming and were a hot topic of discussion for some time. Now, the tribe has made the news yet again as they plan on offering real money game play at the site by the end of this month.
According to a recent report at CardPlayer, the online poker site will be available in real money game play before the month is up. Dave Vialpando recently spoke with CardPlayer and stated the launch date for real money is between the 26th and the 28th of August. The Iipay Nation of Santa Ysabel tribe will be offering their online poker product for real money at the Privatetable.com site which was created by the tribe some time ago. Only individuals who are residents of the state and are at least 18 years of age can participate. The players must be located within the physical borders of the state to be able to take part.
CardPlayer discussed the new option with Vialpando as California does not have legislation available for online poker. Brian Pempus of CardPlayer asked Vialpando how the tribe was going ahead with the process despite the lack of legislation. Vialpando stated that even though the legislation did not pass in the state, the tribe is going to continue with their plans. Vialpando has said that the tribe’s authority to offer class II gaming from the reservation is not prohibited by any statute. The tribe believes they are covered by IGRA and have been cooperative with the government when asked questions on the subject.
Vialpando was asked what can be expected when real money goes live and he stated the option will be a slow roll-out as only limited offerings will be available during the beginning. The tribe wants to be sure the site is reliable with beta testing. As the site progresses, the tribe will be adding tournaments, promotions and new features for players to enjoy.
