Brazilian Soccer Star Neymar 6th in BSOP Sao Paulo High Roller

Sometimes people from other sports take interest in poker, and the soccer superstar and one of the highest paid players ever, Neymar Jr., seems to really know how to play poker. Although he did not achieve the result in World Cup that the Brazilian fans expected of him and his team, he compensated that with an amazing result in Brazilian Series of Poker (BSOP) Sao Paulo.

There were 288 entrants and Neymar was one of them in the R$7,000 ($1,850) High Roller. When there were 19 players remaining, Neymar had the fourth biggest chip stack and even managed to made it to the final table. The final table was postponed for one day when Neymar expressed his concerns about not being able to make it to a wedding party where he was the best man.

On Wednesday, all the players returned once again to finish the tournament which was held in WTC Sheraton. At that point, Neymar was 6th in the number of chips. It is exactly the 6th place where he remained and eventually hit the rail.

But Neymar was not the only star in the final table. Another person who was easily recognizable there was Eyal Bensimhon who was actually the winner of World Series of Poker International Circuit Rotterdam Main Event where he won $112,709. But Bensimon also did not manage to win this tournament either as he had to hit the rail being eighth in place.

Bensimhon was not able to hide his happiness. Not everyone gets a chance to meet Neymar, let alone spend hours with him playing poker. He said that the poker game was one of the best experiences of his life. He told a story about his play with Neymar and asked him to tag him in the Instagram story. Neymar did that and Bensimon instantly gained several thousand followers. However, his biggest satisfaction was that he actually met Neymar and that he will have a story to tell to his grandchildren.

The game ended with a heads-up between Oscar Alache and Affif Prado. Alache has won LAPT two times and Prado is currently marked as Brazil Series of Poker Player of the Year. In the end, Alache had pocket fours and got all in, but was stopped by the jacks that Prado had in his pocket.

Prado also gave a comment about Neymar, saying that it was great to see him play and that he has a great love for the game apart from the passion. He added that it was cool to see Neymar approach poker and very interesting how he studied and watched everything that happened during the game.

Prado won a total of $85,709 while the runner-up Alache won $67,423. Neymar took a total of $21,470. Although this may be a great sum to some players, to Neymar it is less than half of his day worth as he already earns more than $900,000 per week.
