Brad Ruben is a talented regular player at the World Series of Poker(WSOP) who has bagged four gold bracelets. Yet, he hadn’t won a WSOP Circuit gold ring before winning the WSOP Circuit Choctaw Main Event on November 6. Still, he received a $250,140 first-place prize.
This was the Floridian poker player’s biggest payout in his career. His victory increased his total winnings to over $1.9 million. He has earned most of his payouts in WSOP tournaments.
Even so, the recent $1,700 Buy-In No-Limit Hold’em even featured 934 entries and had a $1 million guarantee. But, its entrants increased the prize pool to $1,415,000 which only the best 136 players shared, each taking home at least $1,294. Besides, the event had three starting flights.

How Things Unfolded at the Final Table
Only 94 players advanced to Day 2. However, the field drastically reduced to 12 after a few hours. Some of the players with deep runs who failed to reach the final table were Daniel Lowery, Brian Green, Cord Garcia, Rania Nasreddine, Dustin Schoonover, Christopher Staats, Derek Normand, Jared Ingles, and Ryan Van Sanford.
A nine-handed final table was set after less than half an hour, Ruben being the stack leader. Two eliminations occurred before the break. Ruben studied his opponents keenly before busting Danny Marx in the seventh position.
The former steadily grew his stack as other players got busted. He knocked out William Nguyen in the fifth position, this being his second knockout of the day.
Ruben had a 2:1 stack lead over the second player on the leaderboard when the table’s second break started. He stunned his rail when he beat Harvey Castro, the reigning WSOP Circuit Choctaw Main Event champion. The latter hoped to win his second consecutive Main Event title.
Unfortunately, Ruben killed his dream when he busted him in third place. Castro’s elimination kicked off a tough match between Ruben and David Diaz. Ruben had a 5:1 chip lead over his rival who narrowly escaped several eliminations on the last day.
The duo battled it out for 45 minutes before the dealer dealt the tournament’s final hand. Diaz used AHeart SuitJSpade Suit in the hole to go in preflop and Ruben used AClub Suit10Heart Suit to cover him.
