The official sponsor of the 2016 World Series of Poker has been announced and will be 888Poker yet again. In 2015, the WSOP and 888Poker signed a deal, now agreeing upon an extension of that deal for 888 to continue being the official sponsor of the top tournament series. With the sponsorship, players will be able to take part in online satellites at 888Poker to earn a seat to various WSOP events on the 2016 schedule.
The 888 logo will be found on the website of the WSOP as well as the Live Updates web page and seen during coverage provided by ESPN. The online poker room will be prominently displayed during the entire poker series. The announcement of the extended partnership with 888Poker, the WSOP just released the full schedule of events for the 2016 series.
Last year, players took advantage of 888Poker offering qualifiers to the WSOP events, with 128 players heading to the Main Event of the WSOP via the online poker site. Players are expected to take advantage of qualifiers this year as well to earn a seat to the main event and other tournaments on the 2016 schedule.
One option for qualifying during the series via 888Poker is with Event #54. Being called ‘Crazy Eights’ this event pays homage to 888Poker with a buy-in of $888 and a first place prize of $888,888. The event will take place in a no limit hold’em eight handed format, (there’s the 8 again) and will offer the winner a gold bracelet and bragging rights. Players will find that 888Poker offers packages to this event which will include the buy-in for the tournament, flights to Sin City and hotel accommodations.
Itai Pazner, the 888 Holdings Senior Vice President & Head of B2C, commented on the partnership extension by stating that the WSOP is a pinnacle of the poker calendar and during the Main Event, the eyes of the poker world will be on the action in Las Vegas. Renewing the partnership will help to get more players of 888 to the WSOP again this year.
