2019 Poker Masters: Baron Wins First Event

The 2019 Poker Masters tournament has officially started, and the first event was Event No. 1: $10,000 NLHE. It wrapped up recently, and the winner was Isaac Baron, who had a great run and managed to win a total of $223,100.

The opening event started with a total of 97 entries who all came to the PokerGO Studio at the ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas to test their luck and skills. There were 19 levels of very intense play, and Baron managed to stay focused and win the trophy as well as the biggest slice of the prize pool. Speaking of prize pools, the players managed to collect a total of $970,000, which was distributed among the top 14 players.

Given that the number of entries was not that high, it didn’t take long to burst the bubble. The last player to hit the rail with no prize money was J.J. Feregrino, who ended up in 15th place. The next player to lose all his chips was Stephen Chidwick, who ended up 14th and won a total of $19,400.

Other players who did not make it to the final table but made it to the money list were Sean Winter, Antonios Roungeris, Joseph Orsino, Alex Foxen, and Randall Emmett. As soon as Winter hit the rail, it was time to form the final table, which consisted of eight remaining players.

The Final Table Results

Another excellent poker player, Thai Ha, was the first to leave the final table, finishing in eighth place. The Vietnamese player managed to win a total of $38,800. He was the only non-US player who made it to the final table. In other words, the remaining players where some of the creme-de-la-creme of the poker world in America.

Dan Shak hit the rail in seventh place, winning $48,500 along the way. He was soon followed by Scott Blumstein in sixth place. Blumstein took home $58,200.

Sam Soverel, another great poker player, ended his run in fifth place and won a total amount of $77,600. Jeremy Ausmus followed soon for $97,000. The last player to hit the rail before heads-up play was Ralph Wong, who managed to win $116,900.

The two remaining players in the game were Chance Kornuth and Baron. However, at that point, Baron had a very big chip lead, and Kornuth did not have a lot of options. In fact, the two players played just one hand, with Baron winning the little chips Kornuth had managed to preserve for heads-up play.

Sometimes, heads-up is the most exciting part of an event, especially when players have a somewhat equal amount of chips at the start of it. However, this was definitely not the case this time, and the chance of Kornuth returning to the game and evening things out was very small. Therefore, Kornuth had to settle for second place and a total amount of $164,900.
