The state of Pennsylvania has been on the radar as one of the next individual states in the US to launch online gambling options. The state has been watching the progress of Delaware, Nevada and New Jersey, with legislators exploring the possibilities of online gaming. It has now been announced that the Parx Casino will be launching an online gaming site that will be a simulated option, but ready for real money when the opportunity is made available.
Greenwood Racing owns the Parx Casino and offers casino and racetrack wagering in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. Parx has announced they are working with the GameAccount Network in a new partnership to see the online simulation site come to fruition. GameAccount is a software and content developer for gaming and will be providing the software for the sit which is expected to go live during the fourth quarter of this year.
The simulated gaming site will be for fun-play only but will provide an outlet for real money gaming if an when the option is legalized in the state of Pennsylvania. The option would also be ready for interstate gaming if agreements were to be made in the state, with upgrades in place. Greenwood Entertainment and Racing CTO, John Dixon, commented on the new partnership via press release by stating:
“GameAccount has demonstrated its regulated gaming capability in New Jersey and the merits of simulated gaming when integrated with a casino management system. By deploying its system on-property, Parx Casino will have the opportunity to launch simulated gaming nationwide before year’s end and be well prepared in the event regulation of real-money internet gaming emerges in the state of Pennsylvania.” This announcement is an interesting development in the state of Pennsylvania. Is Parx setting up for the inevitable as legislation is in the works or is the casino just trying to be ready for the industry if it is ever legalized in the state?
