Mobile Casino and Sports Betting Expected at PokerStars

PokerStars LogoAll eyes have been on PokerStars since the acquisition of the brand by Amaya Gaming, from the direction in which the online poker rooms seems to be headed to the plight of reentering the United States online gambling market. The online poker room seems to be making headlines almost every week. Late last week, Amaya Gaming announced in a business press release that PokerStars would be launching sports betting as well as mobile casino app in the coming weeks. The online poker site is moving in a new direction and it will be interesting to see how these changes take place as well as how they may affect gamblers in New Jersey if PokerStars is allowed licensing within the state in the coming months.

By the end of April, PokerStars expects to offer a sports betting platform for the first time ever. According to PokerNewsDaily, the launch of sports betting is directly in line with the information revealed last summer by David Baazov the Amaya Chief Executive Officer. Baazov stated that with the continuing trend of online gaming regulation across the globe, the company has the opportunity to leverage their brand recognition and customer loyalty to diversify into other gaming options.

The new sports betting option is set to go live ahead of schedule and should take place during the first quarter of this year. With the new platform, players will be given access based on the country in which they live. PokerStars will roll out the option in countries that use the PokerStars 7 client. Only a select few will offer the option first and then more countries will be add over time.

Online casino gaming was discussed during the new update by Amaya which included the new option of mobile casino gaming. PokerStars 7 already offers casino gaming and the completion of this option will include a mobile platform. Amaya stated that PokerStars will be launching web and mobile options of their casino gaming this year and then begin an aggressive consumer marketing campaign for the platforms.

It is believed that PokerStars will be approved for operation in the state by March, according to statements by the NJ Governor in recent reports. The launch of new gaming platforms, including mobile casino gaming, could line up with the launch in New Jersey which would give the brand a full offering of gambling options for NJ residents.
