Harvard Law Professor to Organize Poker Strategic thinking Societies

Charles Nesson, a Harvard Law Professor, is trying to organize “poker strategic thinking societies” at universities and secondary schools around the world. These societies will use poker to teach students about basic life skills to war games at military colleges.

Nesson will be in Singapore August 19th during an international conference called State of Play where he is planning on making the announcement of the formation of Global Poker Strategic Thinking Society (GPSTS). He will start the chapters of the GPSTS at Harvard and will organized others at prominent universities across the world.

The plan for GPSTS is to involve secondary schools, community centers and underprivileged neighborhoods in poker strategic thinking. Sponsor team poker tournaments between graduate level programs like law and business and conduct seminars that will look at poker to teach strategic thinking and public policy issues.

Nesson said, “Poker is ONE of the best metaphors for teaching life skills across a variety of disciplines.”

Another goal of the poker societies is to have a team poker championship for American Universities in a NCAA bracket style format.
