The winning Powerball numbers from Wednesday November 28th 2012 were: 5, 16, 22, 23, 29 with 6 as the Powerball.

The winners of this monumental jackpot will be splitting the $579.9 million lottery jackpot. As of yet, we do not know if the tickets were bought by individuals or if they were purchased by groups of people. In fact, it’s not even known if the winners realize that they’ve won.

If the jackpot had been won by a single winner, the cash now option would have been $379.8 million before taxes. That makes the cash option 189.9 million for each of the two winners, provided that they’re individuals rather than groups.       If the winners chose the annuity option, they’d be looking at $289.9 million.

Things get a little bit crazy for lottery retailers whenever Powerball hits more than 200 million dollars. In fact, the lottery department, according to the Chicago Tribune, said that there were enough tickets purchased to provide a 75% chance that the jackpot would be won.  American’s lined up at convenience stores and other lottery retailers all day long to procure their chance to win.
