New Jersey Almost Sets New iGaming Record

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement has announced the gaming totals for the month of February, and a new revenue record was nearly set. Online casinos continue to become more popular in the state, and they nearly teamed up to fly past the January record.

What makes this figure even more impressive is that there were two less days in February than what was found in January. Online casinos racked up $182.3 million in revenue in February, falling just shy of the $183.3 million that set a record in January.

While last month was not a new revenue record, the online casinos did show significant gains in the amount of revenue. The number last month represented a 28% increase from the 2023 total, and that could bode well for the rest of the year.

New Jersey iGaming revenue is already 24% higher than what was recorded during the first two months in 2023. There was an annual revenue record set last year, but that record appears that it’s not going to last for long.

A trio of casinos led the way in February, but nearly all of the online casinos put up some good numbers.

A Look at the Casinos

There are nine casinos that offer online casino gaming through an operator, and there was a clear gap between the top three properties and the rest. Golden Nugget Atlantic City was the big winner in the month of February as that property racked up nearly $52 million in revenue.

Resorts Digital was keep the pressure on last month as well as it had a total online revenue of more than $48 million. Borgata Casino has been struggling to keep pace of late, but that property still collected over $40 million in online revenue.

When looking at the online operators that work under these properties, it’s pretty easy to see why the top two are ahead of the pack. BetRivers, Betway, FanDuel, and Golden Nugget are all operating under the Golden Nugget name.

Resorts Digital has a terrific group of operators as well as those online operators are DraftKings, Mohegan Sun, Resorts Casino, and PokerStars. All of those properties made a strong push once the licensing process first opened up.

Sports Betting in the Mix

Caesars Interactive did not have a ton of success in February 2024, as it actually saw a decrease in revenue. It was the only property to have that happen, but that operator is able to make up for those losses in other ways.

March is one of the biggest months of the year when it comes to sports betting, and many of these operators offer both forms of iGaming. The numbers are split up in the report, but New Jersey is expected to see over $1 billion in handle in March.

There are still some online casino licenses available in the state of New Jersey, and that could allow the state to cash in even more in the future.
