As more residents in Nevada continue to take the COVID-19 dose, more casino owners are allowing guests and employees on gaming boards without wearing masks. The move comes days after Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak reported the state’s policy alignment with Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines about wearing a mask.
Derek Stevens owned hotel-casinos in Southern Nevada are some of the facilities allowing employees and guests to get in without a masked face. These facilities include the D Las Vegas, Circa Resort, and Golden Gate.
Circa resort is an adult-only facility at Fremont and Main Streets. It is the first casino erected in the area in 40 years.
Another casino that is allowing guests and employees without masks is the four Queens Hotel and Casino. The property has hanged a sign assuring guests that they can enter the gaming board by wearing a mask if they are vaccinated against the COVID-19.
Casinos belonging to Caesars Entertainment are also taking vaccinated guests and employees on their casino floors. Both patrons and guests who have received two COVID-19 doses can be on the premises without wearing a mask on their face. Guests and patrons that have taken only one COVID-19 shot or none have to wear a mask.
Some of the Caesars Entertainment properties on the Las Vegas Strip allowing vaccinated unmasked guests include the Flamingo, Paris Las Vegas, Planet Hollywood, and Caesars Palace.
Another set of casinos in Nevada following the no-mask policy include the Cosmopolitan, MGM Resorts, Palazzo, Venetian, and Wynn Resorts.
When Are People Considered Fully Vaccinated?
For a person to be considered vaccinated, they must go for two weeks after getting the second shot of the Moderna or the Pfizer vaccine dose. Or, you can take one dose of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine and go for two weeks.
Casinos in Northern Nevada
Casinos in downtown Reno are also up to pace. Hotel casinos, including the Circus Circus, Eldorado, and silver legacy are not requiring visitors to wear masks. According to Reno Gazette-Journal, Peppermill Resort Spa Casino, Grand Sierra Resort, and Atlantis Casino Resort Spa located near California’s border and the Sierra Nevada are also among properties using the no-mask policy.
Yet, none of these casinos are doing anything to confirm whether a guest is fully vaccinated. For example, the Peppermill Resort Spa Casino spokesperson told Reno Gazette-Journal that the casino did not check visitors’ vaccination records. However, she said that the casino expects those not vaccinated to continue wearing a mask when they come to their property.
Stirred Conversations Following Non-Verification of Vaccination Records
Several people have taken to social media to discuss the lack of vaccine verification. The gaming control board in Nevada is allowing hotel casinos to decide whether to verify guests’ vaccination records or not. The board has no intention of requiring these casinos to verify or not to, leaving that decision to casino operators.
Brianna Beaudoin wrote on Circa’s Facebook page saying that mask-wearing will be on the honor system. Dana Vincente also commented, saying that nobody would be asked about mask-wearing claiming that the honor system is already dead in many parts of the society. While some are concerned about their safety, others are too excited to return to the casino amusement.
