Moon World Resorts Plans to Build a Moon Themed Casino in Las Vegas

The ever-evolving casino skyline of Las Vegas might soon see a moon-themed casino. According to the New York Post, Moon World Resorts wants to build a platform featuring a lunar surface in Las Vegas, Spain, the Middle East, and China by 2027.

The proposed casino will be a 1/75,000 sized mockup of the moon and will feature a 292,011 square foot lunar surface on the casino’s top floor. Visitors will use a shuttle to reach the lunar surface on the 535-foot tall casino.

The casino has posted on its website that it plans to charge $500 for visitors to go to the lunar surface for 90 minutes. It is not yet clear what the company will use to build the lunar surface. But, the casino’s co-founder Michael Henderson noted it would be authentic.

Michael noted that people wanted something different, and that would wow them. Inside the $5 billion resort will be a 10,000 seat arena, a planetarium, and 4,000 suites.

The hotel-casino will also have a parking space to fit 6,000 cars and a 500,000 square-foot convention center. But, it is not clear where the new casino will come up. The closest idea is on the brand’s website showing a giant sphere close to the Encore hotel-casinos and Wynn Las Vegas.

Becoming a Trend Setter

Throughout the life of Las Vegas, there have been buildings of the casino, transforming the area. Even during the pandemic, a luxurious casino was launched. If Moon World built its proposed property, it would join the trendsetters.

It started with mobster Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel building the Flamingo Casino. It brought a new level of luxury to what is now known as the Las Vegas Strip. While the casino is still in that portion of the desert highway to Los Angeles, other properties in the area were brought down for newer buildings.

Other casinos were built, including the Sands, which played a significant role in attracting visitors to Las Vegas by hosting Rat Pack and other celebrities in its Copa Room. Today, the Venetian stands where Sands used to stand.

From 1960, property owners started building more prominent properties on the Strip. These include MGM Grand, which is known as Bally’s today, and Caesars Palace. There is a new MGM Grand south of the Street, nearer to McCarran International Airport.

In 1989, the first mega-resort was opened by Steve Wynn. The Mirage Hotel and Casino on the west of the Strip help grow the area in a significant measure.

The Latest Casinos to Enter Las Vegas

In recent years, new casinos have come up. Going back one year, two casinos have opened in the area, adding up to the top-notch properties in the landscape.

Circa Resort started operating in Las Vegas late last year.

Being an adult-only entertainment property and the first hotel-casino to be built from the ground up in the past 40 years, Circa has become a trendsetter. Moreover, it recently gained a four-star rating from AAA.

Another casino that recently opened is the Resorts World Las Vegas. It opened in June and is seated on the west side of the Strip, replacing the Stardust. The casino spent $4.3 billion to come to reality.
