MGM Resorts, one of the most popular casino operators in the US, decided to bring back live entertainment to the Entertainment Capital of the World. This has happened despite the fact that the Nevada governor is warning about the possible “COVID fatigue” that could affect the economy of the state in the long run.
MGM made an announcement on Tuesday that a total of seven live entertainment shows will return to the city. The three will start as soon as November 6.
One of the most anticipated shows will be David Copperfield’s ‘Live The Impossible’ which is produced by MGM Grand. Moreover, visitors will have an opportunity to watch the comedian Carrot Top at the Luxor Theater, as well as the Thunder from Down Under ‘Pecs n’ Sex revue’, which will take place in Thunderland Showroom at Excalibur.
President of MGM’s entertainment and sports, George Kliavkoff, stated that the period of eight months was “long enough for entertainment to be absent from the Vegas strip.” Moreover, he added that MGM was making “an important step” when deciding to re-launch live entertainment in Vegas.
MGM to Follow Health and Safety Regulations
Even though live entertainment will return, MGM will still have to follow plenty of regulations to maximize the protection of both guests and performers (and all other workers).
Therefore, the maximum of 250 guests will be allowed per performance, and they will have to respect the six-feet social distancing rule. Moreover, the performers will be separated from the guests by 25 feet.

One of the newest additions to MGM’s family was a food & beverage place, which is described as a “dumpling and noodle hotspot” in Vegas. The restaurant is located at ARIA Resort & Casino. Its name is Din Tai Fung, and it’s part of the chain that boasts making 10,000 dumplings daily.
Steve Sisolak, Governor of Nevada, decided to loosen the policies regarding large gatherings in the state. Nevertheless, he is still worried about the overall situation about the COVID-19 pandemic, as there has been an “alarming trend” of new cases and hospitalizations related to the coronavirus. As it turns out, the surge in new cases happened after the policies were loosened.
Moreover, Sisolak asked all residents of Nevada, as well as out-of-state visitors, to be careful and stick to the health & safety rules. He would have to re-introduce the unpopular restrictions should people decide not to respect the rules and more cases emerge in the future. However, Sisolak is hoping that he wouldn’t have to do that once again. After all, he said that the virus “doesn’t get fatigued.”
All in all, things are changing rapidly in Las Vegas, and the re-introduction of live entertainment is definitely good news for many Vegas lovers. However, they will have to do their best to remain careful and minimize the transmission of COVID-19 in the city.
