The casino celebrated its anniversary this week by gifting its 100 employees in Anne Arundel County a chance to pick anything under the company’s tab in 15 minutes.
The casino was launched on June 6, 2012, by the Cordish Companies, a casino and hospitality company in Baltimore. It was the firm’s first property. However, the firm decided to sell the Hanover casino in December 2021 to Gaming and Leisure Properties Inc., an investment trust run by Penn National Gaming.
The Cordish Companies still runs the resort until 2062, as stated in a leaseback agreement. The recent act of generosity is not the first on Cordish’s executives.
In fact, the company is known for its generosity towards the communities in which it runs. Interestingly, the company’s chairman, David Cordish, has a habit of visiting Live! Maryland casino gaming floor from time to time giving $100 to random guests.
In that line, Cordish drew 100 people to enjoy rampant shopping at Costco. The employees took advantage of the opportunity, grabbing everything they wished in 15 minutes.
Sweeping Through the Supermarket
Cordish drew 100 names from its 1,900 employees to participate in the shopping spree. The company conducted a lottery to get 100 shoppers to sweep through Costco in Hanover.
This cost the company around $336,000. Ideally, each shopper spent an average of $3,400.
The shoppers loaded their carts with different items, including cookware, vacuums, fireworks, steak, and other costliest items they could reach.
According to David Cordish, through a news release, Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland represented the best of their Live! Brand. He noted that the act of generosity was a show of love for him and his family.
David also noted that the casino had a great, long-lasting relationship with the community. He was excited about the success and was happy to celebrate the milestone with the people that contribute to it the most, employees and guests.
The Other Part of the Anniversary Celebration
Live! Maryland casino celebrated its decade of operations throughout June. Apart from the shopping spree for 100 employees, the casino also awarded promotions every day to guests. Dubbed, My Live! Rewards program, participating players had an opportunity to pocket $10k cash.
The casino also gave surprise giveaways. For example, ten guests who have frequented the casino since 2012 were given $1k cash each.
To top it all, Cordish promised $1 million to a Community College Sponsorship Program. The firm will release $100k every year for the next ten years to Anne Arundel Community College.

Live! Casino Maryland continues to perform well. The casino has been the second-highest-earning casino in Maryland for five consecutive years.
The Anne Arundel casino earned $487 million from slot machines and $205 million on table games in 2021.
Last year was the casino’s highlight as it earned more money than in pre-pandemic. Soon, the casino’s revenue will jump over the roof when it commences on sports betting.
The operator is waiting for the state to give a green light through the Maryland Sports Wagering Application Review Commission.
