The PokerAtlas Tour has been taking place at Resorts World Las Vegas, and this event always attracts some great live poker players. There were 10 events that took place from March 7-18, and all of the action concluded with a main event with a massive pot.
Tim Krauskopf ended up being the biggest winner at the main event, although he settled for much less money than what he could have won. There were a total of 459 players that signed up for the main event, and those players agreed to pay the $800 buy-in.
The PokerAtlas Tour typically offers many different types of poker games, but this one was played as a no-limit hold’em tournament. Players were split up into four starting flights in an effort to speed things up, but it was an intense five days.
PokerAtlas guaranteed $300,000 in prize money at the main event, but that total ended up climbing all the way up to $321,300. The champion had a chance to win more than $60,000 by winning it outright, but there were five players that decided to chop that up and end the action early.
There were some previous champions competing in this main event, but the title went to a relatively unknown player in Krauskopf.
Final Table Results
There were just five players that entered the action at the final table, and players started dropping out of the competition quickly. Armen Minasyan was the first to leave the final table, collecting just $6,430 in the process.
From there, Krauskopf started to get aggressive and he sent Jimmy Svardhagen home with an eighth place finish. Brian Kim and Graham Matthews were the next two players to leave the final table, setting the tone for five tough players battling it out.
There were a number of hands played between the five players, and none of them were willing to go all-in out of desperation. The chips continued to get passed around, but it was Krauskopf who continued to stay in the lead.
It seemed strange that Krauskopf was willing to chop the pot based on how well he was played, but the five full days of poker were taking a toll. By having the most chips at the time of the chop, Krauskopf was awarded $45,968.
Danny Chen was more than happy to split the pot after a couple of losses, and he still took home more than $35,000 in second place.
A Look at Krauskopf
Krauskopf might have had some success at this event, but he is not someone who has had much success throughout his career. He made the long trip from Chicago to Las Vegas, and he might want to start entering bigger tournaments moving forward.
Krauskopf earned nearly 400 Card Player Player of the Year points with this win, and he rose up the standings with this win. It’s unclear if he plans to enter more big events throughout the rest of the year, but he could be looking to ride this wave of momentum.
