Sven Ragnar Astrom Wins World Poker Tour Venice Stop

This Sunday the World Poker Tour Venice stop concluded after Sven Ragnar Astrom of Sweden defeated Per Martin Jacobson in heads up play. A total of 397 players paid the €4,000+€400 buy-in to compete in the no limit hold’em tournament which created a prize pool of €1,521,260.

Before final table play there was stiff competition for who would bust on the bubble. The unlucky player was Dario Minieri who went up against Astrom with pocket nines. Astrom held pocket kings and the better pair so Minieri was out in seventh.

Astrom gained the chip lead after busting Minieri so he would easily be able to take down the win. The final hand of heads up play went down when Astrom check raised his opponent Jacobson. Astrom held pocket fours and Jacobson held K-6. The board read J-7-7-A-4 and Astrom would take the win. Astrom announced after the win that this was his first time playing in a major live tournament.

1st: Sven Ragnar Astrom — €397,960

2nd: Per Martin Jacobson — €238,840

3rd: vincent582 — €159, 740

4th: Michael McDonald — €109,540

5th: Michele Slama — €86,720

6th: Mario Adinolfi — €66,940
