Online Poker Revenues Dip Low in New Jersey

new jersey flagOnline poker has been up and running for almost a year now in the state of New Jersey and has seen major highs and major lows. Players have the opportunity to visit online poker sites in the state and take part in tournament and cash gaming, while within the state’s borders. From the beginning, the revenues in New Jersey for iGaming have been less than stellar, coming in lower than the estimated amounts. However, the state has been able to do better in lieu of revenues when compared to Nevada and Delaware, the only two other states that provide online poker or online poker/casino gaming.

For the month of October, the state saw the lowest amount ever earned since starting with online gaming and it marks the second consecutive month in the row the state has seen a decline in revenues. The figures dropped under $2 million and online poker sites in the state either remained steady or saw a significant drop in earnings, as according to Pokerfuse and the NJ Division of Gaming Enforcement figures.

The partypoker network operates The Borgata online poker site and they saw a decrease of just over 9% from the previous month, earning $1,056,711. The 888 Poker Network operates the WSOP website in the state and saw a very small decrease of .37%.

The online poker revenues for the month of October were a total of $1,967,904 which is just over $117,000 in decreased earnings when compared to September. However, dipping under $2 million and being in a decline for a second month in a row does not bode well for the state.

Back in September, Ultimate Poker ceased operations in the state and this does have some effect on the revenues generated for the month of October. Despite the Ultimate Poker losses, the remaining poker sites have still produced lower numbers since online poker first launched within the state.

It is also believed that New Jersey may fall behind as the top producer of online cash game traffic at the poker tables as soon as Delaware and Nevada begin to share liquidity. It will be interesting to see if there is a shift when the two begin to work together in online game play. For now, New Jersey remains in the lead, despite the loss in revenues for October.
