FTOPS IX Sunday Recap; Events 8, 9 & 10

The biggest day of Full Tilt Poker’s $15m GTD event, the Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS IX) kicked off Sunday, spanning 3 tournaments worth a guaranteed total of $2.5 million. Events #8, #9 and especially #10, were three of the most exciting installments of the series thus far.
FTOPS IX Event #8 - $256 NL Hold’em Knockout (6-Max), $500k GTD
Everyone’s favorite bounty-style knockout tournament, FTOPS IX Event #8 got underway at 2pm at Full Tilt Poker, hosted by Roy Winston. A field of 3,077 drove the GP as high as $615,400 as the players took to the tables for more than 8-1/2 hours of non-stop tension.
As the final table of 6 dwindled, the suspense mounting when ‘miserd00d’ exited in 3rd position to bring about heads-up between ‘ryanbluf’ and ‘luccin x’. When the smoke cleared, ‘luccin x’ walked away with $76,432 – impressive indeed, but not quite that of ‘ryanbluf’ who pocketed $121,184 for the 1st place win.
A notable 6th place finish came from Team Full Tilt’s Thomas Wahlroos of Finland, adding $19k to his already impressive total of more than $1 million in tournament winnings over his professional poker career.

FTOPS IX Event #9 – $535 NL Hold’em Heads-Up Shootout, $500k GTD
A few hours later, FTOPS IX Event #9 commenced as 1,322 talented poker players converged to take each other on, one by one, rocketing the guaranteed prize pool to $661,000. Team Full Tilt’s Kenny Tran was on hand to host the 11-hour event.
The final heads-up table pitted the fierce skills of ‘tedsfishfry’ and ‘Antonio18’ against one another in a battle to the finish. In the end, it was ‘tedsfishfry’ who emerged victorious, claiming the top prize of $115,014.
Full Tilt Pro Stefan Rapp, a young professional poker player from Austria who’s slowly working his way through the ranks, collected $18k for a 6th place finish.

FTOPS IX Event #10 – $322 NL Hold’em, $1.5m GTD
For the first time in FTOPS IX, even with a respectable field of nearly 5,000, Full Tilt Poker actually saw an overlay in Event #10. Then again, with a $1,500,000 guaranteed prize pool, if it was going to happen early on, this would be the event; and granted, Full Tilt Poker only had to put up an additional $4,500 to cover the spread.
Hosted by the influential Full Tilt Pro Erik Seidel, Event #10 began at 6pm Sunday evening and did not conclude until 5am the next morning. It came down to heads-up between ‘Harlindo’ and ‘POKERPRO’, but the cards fell in ‘Harlindo’s way, earning him the 1st place prize of more than a quarter of a million dollars.
