Philadelphia 76ers at Brooklyn Nets Betting Preview

As the 76ers face the Nets, they do so having lost just one game. And believe it or not, the team that beat them was none other than the Cleveland Cavaliers. It’s been that kind of 2020-21 season thus far.

Philadelphia was able to withstand a 60-point scoring effort from Bradley Beal to knock off the Wizards in a game that featured 277 points. They got an excellent final quarter from Joel Embiid, giving him some positive momentum as he prepares to go toe-to-toe with the fro. Not an easy task to square off against Jarrett Allen.

On the other hand, Brooklyn remains without Kevin Durant, though they dominated Utah in their game without him the other night. Kyrie Irving was simply unstoppable, as several role players were able to step up and perform.

The decision to move DeAndre Jordan to the bench was clearly a smart one. This is still a dangerous Nets team, with Caris LeVert serving as the team’s first option off a solid bench.

ODDS:

The spread for this contest favors the visiting 76ers by three points. Durant being out has a significant influence on that number.

76ers Look to Keep It Rolling

Not that it’s surprising, but Philadelphia is much better when they have their starting point guard in the lineup. Ben Simmons has continuously proved himself as a game-changing defensive player who can also make things happen as a facilitator. And his teammate, Tobias Harris, was just named as conference player of the week.

They come in feeling good after dropping 141 against the Wizards on Wednesday, so they hope to come away with another win. They did an excellent job with the addition of Seth Curry, who is shooting the three as well as ever this year. He is actually inside the top three all-time for the highest percentage from beyond the arc.

The keys to victory will be stopping Irving in the fourth quarter and not letting Joe Harris have open looks.

Brooklyn Seeking a Win as Underdogs

Serving as the non-favored team, the Nets hope to deal a loss to their Atlantic division rival. The teams met in the playoffs a few years ago, creating a little rivalry between them, the beef between then-Net Jared Dudley and Ben Simmons very real. Philadelphia won it in five games, but the Nets let them know that they had arrived.

Irving is now the top guy, with Durant going through health and safety protocol. He will take as many shots as he’d like while also doing some solid facilitating. He looked great against the Jazz, and Irving will be looking to continue with that.

The team is still a bit short-handed, but other players step up. We saw some good things from Bruce Brown in the starting lineup in the last game.

Sixers Stay Hot

The game will be close, but the Nets won’t be able to get the win. A 76ers win is going to be the end result.
