NBA Western Conference Finals: Golden State Warriors vs. Houston Rockets

The Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets will square off in game 6 of the Western Conference Finals on Saturday night. The Rockets currently lead the series 3-2, and will be looking to punch their ticket to the NBA Finals. The Warriors hope that they can protect home court and win game 6, forcing a decisive game 7.

After 3 straight blowout games to begin this series, the last two games have been decided in the last minute. The Rockets were able to hold off the Warriors in game 5, winning 98-94 at home. Neither team has looked sharp in the previous two games, but there is still great potential for great games the rest of this series. The Warriors are -10 over the Rockets in game 6.

Chris Paul Hopes to Play Game 6

The Houston Rockets were able to win game 5, but the victory might have been a costly one. Chris Paul came up limping after landing for a shot in the final minute, and it was announced that he has a hamstring injury. Paul has been terrific for the Rockets all series long, and scored 20 points in the game 5 victory. If Paul is unable to play for the Rockets in game 6, it will be a huge blow to the Rockets’ chances.

James Harden struggled mightily for the Rockets in game 5, but was bailed out by his teammates. Harden finished with 19 points but was just 5-21 from the field, including 0-11 on three point attempts. The Rockets need Harden to play at a high level in game 6 if they are going to advance to the Finals.

Warriors Suddenly Have No Depth

The Warriors have been successful the last few years due to their incredible depth, but that advantage is suddenly gone. Playing without Andre Iguodala in game 5, the Warriors got just 4 points from their bench. The Warriors hope that Iguodala can return for game 6, but there is more pressure on the starters to deliver.

Turnovers plagued the Warriors in the game 5 loss, and they appear to be careless with the ball at times. Golden State committed 16 turnovers in game 5, with Draymond Green committing 6 of them. The high powered offense of Golden State is unable to get going if they are constantly giving the ball away. Look for the Warriors to take better care of the ball, and play more focused on the offensive end in game 6

Warriors Win at Home, Even Series

Both teams head into game 6 with injuries, and it will be interesting to see if either Paul or Iguodala suit up for their respective teams. The Rockets have shown toughness in the last two games, but are still struggling to find their true offensive rhythm. Houston faces the daunting task of trying to eliminate the Warriors in Oracle Arena.

The defending champs have been in this situation before, and they know how to survive and advance in the playoffs. The Warriors need better play from their bench, but the “Big Four” of the Warriors are good enough to lead the team to victory. Look for Golden State to bounce back in a big way and blow out the Rockets in game 6. Bet the Golden State Warriors -10 over the Houston Rockets.
