NBA Game 6 Betting Preview: Golden State Warriors at Los Angeles Clippers

Here we are for Game 6 of the series. The Warriors have not been taken to six games in the first round in any of the past four of their runs to the NBA Finals. Even with Steph Curry missing the first round last year, they were able to advance in five games. And they are not in the clear yet. Tonight’s game will definitely feature a hostile environment.

Still fighting! After pouring in 129 points and outpacing the Warriors, LA has made it to a Game 6. Few expected them to qualify for the postseason after dealing Tobias Harris and Avery Bradley at the deadline, but here they are. They have figured out their rotation and have a chance to force a Game 7 with GS for the second time in six years.

Golden State is a -10 point favorite in Game 6, with the over/under set at 232.5.

Warriors Need To Tighten Up D

One thing that we have not seen either team struggle with over the past few games of this series is turnovers. And in Game 5, GS turned the ball over only five times. That wasn’t their issue. Defense and a lack of offense in the big moments are what lost the Warriors the last game. After scoring 41 points in the opening quarter, they were held to just 22 in the second, something that really cost them.

They trailed by eight at halftime on their home floor because they allowed the Clippers to score 71 in the first half. And when they finally held LA under 30 in the fourth, they managed just 27 points of their own.

The “other guys” are the ones who let them down. With KD, Steph, and Klay Thompson combining for 91, the rest of the team added just 30. If they can’t find other players to step up and score, they could have trouble again tonight. Cousins is not walking through that door.

Clippers Aren’t Satisfied

They made it to the playoffs. They have won two games against the 2X defending champs. They were the last team to have success against the Warriors in the first round, taking them down in seven games following the 2013-14 season. Could they potentially do it again? Golden State was the last team to blow a 3-1 lead, and LA can force a Sunday night Game 7 with a victory tonight. There is no question that they have the right personnel and even the right defensive scheme.

They are going to need to outrebound the Warriors. Limiting second-shot opportunities, making their threes, and sticking to their defenders are the things they will HAVE to do. Do not count them out! This game is going to be exciting.

Game 6 Close All the Way

Folks, this game will be no cake-walk for Golden State. They will be likely playing harder than in Game 5, but so will the Clippers. This series is not necessarily going seven, but this game won’t be easy for either side. Avoid betting straight-up, and take the underdogs.
