NBA Finals: Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Golden State Warriors: Game 3

The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors are set to square off in game three of the NBA Finals. After a back and forth game 1, the Warriors led wire to wire in game two, finishing with a 122-103 victory. The Warriors now lead the series 2-0 with the series heading back to Cleveland.

The Warriors were heavy favorites heading into this series, and looked like the team to beat in game two. The Cavaliers must find a way to regroup and win game three if they have any chance of making this a series. The Golden State Warriors are -5.0 over the Cavaliers in game 3.

Curry in MVP Form

Stephen Curry has yet to win an NBA Finals MVP award, but it is looking like it might be Curry’s to lose this season. Curry exploded for 33 points in the game two victory, including an NBA Finals record, 9 three pointers. Curry has been able to take advantage of favorable matchups this series to break free for shot attempts.

The Warriors were able to make things more difficult for LeBron James in game 2, after allowing him to score 51 points in game one. The Warriors sent extra defenders at James and forced the other Cavaliers players to make shots. If the Warriors stay focused on both sides of the ball, they will be tough to beat, even on the road.

JR Smith Still Struggling

After committing a crucial late game mistake in game 1, the Cavaliers were hoping that JR Smith would bounce back for game two. Instead, Smith scored just 5 points in the game two loss, on 2-9 shooting from the field. If the Cavaliers have any chance of winning game 3, Smith will have to provide more offense or must have his minutes taken away.

LeBron had another solid performance in game two, but he wasn’t able to get to the basket as easily as he did in game 1. James finished with 29 points, 13 assists, and 9 rebounds, but the Cavaliers need more scoring from their leader. The Warriors made defensive adjustments in game two, and now it is up to James to respond.

Warriors Continue to Roll

The Cavaliers missed a great opportunity to win game 1, but weren’t competitive in the game 2 loss. Cleveland must find a way to keep Stephen Curry quiet in game 3 if they are going to have any chance of getting back in the series. The Cavs know that they can’t fall down 3-0, and will come out with their best effort on Wednesday night.

The Warriors appear to be headed for a second straight NBA Championship. Now Golden State must prove that they can beat the Cavs in Cleveland. If the Warriors continue to knock down shots, they appear to be impossible to be stopped. Look for Curry and Kevin Durant to continue their three point barrage in a blow out game 3 victory. Bet the Golden State Warriors -5.0 over the Cavs in game 3.
