Online Poker Coach Sacked Amid Rumors of Misconduct

Allegations have come to light in recent weeks accusing poker coach Jason Ho of scamming his students. The complaints first arose in the online gambling forums at StoxPoker, where Ho formerly worked as an online poker instructor, and soon a multitude of charges and questions concerning Jason Ho’s qualifications and practices flooded the forums.

Scrutiny over Jason Ho’s claim to have won over $1,000,000 playing online poker in 2008 surfaced on the forums, and claims that Ho never offered proof of his claim. It is also alleged that some students traveled to Macau for private coaching services from Jason Ho, but that he did not deliver the intensive, one-on-one training that he had advertised. There have also been claims that Jason Ho collected an undetermined amount of money from investors in a poker project that may have been a hoax.

Also called into question is Jason Ho’s poker skill. Dusty ‘leatherpants’ Schmidt, formerly a coach and co-owner of StoxPoker, called Ho a “mediocre poker player”  on his CardPlayer blog, in reference to the one session in which Schmidt agreed to accept a lesson from Jason Ho.

Poker training site, StoxPoker, has responded to the influx of complaints by dropping Jason Ho from their group of coaches, and banning him from the StoxPoker forums. Thus far, Jason Ho has not responded to the allegations on his blog or twitter page, nor have any official charges been filed against him.
