One Last Look at 2012 WSOP Schedule as the Series Begins

The first event of the 2012 World Series of Poker is just days away, and poker players all around the world have been anticipating this day for months now. Players have been padding their accounts for months by playing online poker just to enter in to the Main Event or simply attend the festivities. This year’s series is set to be one of the best ever as more events have been added and new changes make the series even more exciting.

This year’s series will include new events such as the $1 Million Big One, a $1,500 Ante Only tournament, $3,000 Mixed NLHE/PLO Heads up event, a $5,000 tournament in the Mix-Max format, a $1,500 Ante Only tournament and more! A full schedule of events can be found at the WSOP website.

Overall the series will have sixty one bracelet events, which is three more than the 2011 series. The series will also see side games taking place as well. If players are eliminated from a bracelet event or find themselves with a little spare time, they can participate in other games such as 24 hour cash games, mega satellite daily tournaments and single table games. the series will also host No Limit Hold’em tournaments three times a day with buy-ins as low as $135 during the entire tournament series.

There have been a few changes to the Series as well. Along with the new tournaments in the series, the Main Event has a few changes in place. The Main Event usually sees Day 1 heats taking place in a four day time span but this portion of the event has now been cut down to three days. However, now a third Day 2 flight has been added to the schedule. The November Nine will now be known as the October Nine but the change is only about a week’s difference from the original final table date.

The series will kick off on May 28th with the first event of the series, the $1,500 No Limit Hold’em tournament. This will be the first bracelet event of the tournament but the first event is really the $500 Casino Employees event which is a non-bracelet tournament.

The World Series of Poker has also announced the new WSOP Main event bracelet. This year’s bracelet was designed by Jason Arasheben, a famous celebrity jewelry designer. Jason of Beverly Hills not only designed the Main Event bracelet but he also designed the other bracelets in the series.

Ty Stemware the WSOP Executive Director, commented on the new bracelet design by stating: “Blinger is Better. Jason grasped the heritage of WSOP bracelets, but was only interested if he could take it up several notches. This is a trophy that truly embodies the promise of today’s WSOP—seemingly unthinkable dreams are dealt each year. I challenge anyone to keep a poker face when they see this bracelet in person.”
