Arizona Diamondbacks at New York Mets Betting Preview

The wild thing about this season is that nobody is talking about Arizona as a potential team to sneak into the Wild Card spot, while the Mets have been hailed as a group good enough to slip in with a hot streak. But the Diamondbacks now have a better record than their opponents, which is awfully interesting. They made some significant moves at the deadline during this season, and last offseason too, but they are in the race, potentially.

The Mets are trying to figure things out, as it seems they peaked a full month too early. They needed their long streak of wins just to get back into contention of any kind, but it happened too soon. They got confident, and they have not been able to back up that level of play or anything close to it for any long periods of time. If they want to get a WC spot, the run has to start in this one for New York.

The moneyline on the Mets is set at -110, while it is at -104 for the Diamondbacks. The over/under is set at 8.5 runs.

Diamondbacks Looking For Another Win

The Diamondbacks have played some very good baseball of late, and they are looking not only to put themselves into pole position but also take the Mets out of it, which they can do with a win tonight. Eduardo Escobar has been leading the offense all year, now with 34 home runs and 112 RBI on the season, proving to be an excellent addition to the club. Ketel Marte has 32 home runs and 91 RBI while also batting .329 this year. He is closing in on 200 hits for the season, just 20 away.

Strikeout machine Robbie Ray is set to take the mound for his 30th start of the year. He has gone 12-7 with a 4.03 ERA in 156 1/3 innings of work. He has struck out 207 batters while walking 73.

Mets Needing A Victory

This season has been all about the Mets’ star rookie, who is in store for a phenomenal career. Pete Alonso has come and shocked the world with a franchise-record 47 home runs and driven in 109 runs to power the team. Michael Conforto has been swinging the bat well, and he’s crushed 29 home runs on the season. Jeff McNeil is batting .322 on the year, and he has been hitting the ball well since the year first began. The entirety of the Mets lineup has been playing pretty solidly, and it has been keeping them competitive.

Steven Matz is set to get his 27th start of the year (29th appearance) for the Mets. He has gone 9-8 with a 4.00 ERA in 139 1/3 innings of work. He has struck out 132 batters while walking 42.

Mets Pick Up The Win

Make sure you ride with New York folks as they will be knocking off the Diamondbacks. Seven solid innings for Matz.
