The Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers are meeting for a three game series this week at Wrigley Field in Chicago. This is a rematch of the last two years’ NLCS series, and each team has won the pennant to advance to the World Series. Both teams are looking to get back to the playoffs in 2018.
Game 1 of this series was postponed after a lengthy rain delay on Monday night. Los Angeles has fought their way back into the playoff race and will be looking to challenge the Cubs this season. Montgomery Pitching Well For Cubs
Mike Montgomery will start for the Cubs in game two of this series, and he has done a tremendous job as a starter this year for Chicago. Montgomery is primarily a reliever for the Cubs, but has been plugged into the rotation in the absence of Yu Darvish. Montgomery has a record of 2-2, but has a terrific ERA of just 3.31. Montgomery will look to shut down the Dodgers offense on Tuesday night.
The Chicago Cubs continue to get great pitching from their entire pitching staff. The Cubs are second in the Major Leagues with a 3.19 team ERA. The Cubs have featured an inconsistent offense in 2018, but their pitching staff has been great from opening day until now. If the Cubs offense can squeeze out a few runs, Chicago will have a great chance to win game 2.
Dodgers Back in NL West Race
The Los Angeles Dodgers got off to a terrible start to the 2018 season, but appear to be hitting their stride this month. The Dodgers have jumped up into second place in the National League West division, and are right on the heels of the Diamondbacks. The Dodgers will look to stay hot against a very good Chicago Cubs team.
Former Cub, Rich Hill will start against Chicago in game two of the series. Hill has had a very successful career as a Dodger, but has also struggled with injury issues in the previous years, and this year as well. Hill is just 1-2 with a 6.20 ERA in 2018, and the Dodgers will need him to be much better if they are going to win the National League West again.
Cubs Win Game 2
This appears to be a terrific series featuring the last two National League Champions. The Cubs have been the much better team in 2018, but the Dodgers are starting to turn the corner and get back into the playoff mix. Mike Montgomery has been great for the Chicago Cubs as a starter this season, and he should be able to shut down the struggling Dodgers’ offense.
