Calvin32 Wins $452k In PokerStars WCOOP Event #6

September 9, 2008

Since September 5th, the opening day of PokerStars 2008 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP), the action has been purely non-stop at the online poker room, having awarded millions in prize money already. WCOOP Event #6, the highest prize pool thus far, guaranteeing at least $3,000,000, was scheduled as a 2-day event that actually crept into day 3 before a victor emerged.

The $500+$30 NL Hold’em event began at 4:30pm ET on Sunday, September 7th, and it wasn’t until the wee hours of this morning (Tuesday at 1:11am ET) that the event finally came to a close. A true test of stamina, the starting field of 7,351 participants battled their hardest to claim their share of the incredible prize pool, bolstered to $3,675,500.

As Monday night evolved into Tuesday morning, the final table at PokerStars WCOOP Event #6 was eroding away, player by player, until the elimination of Netherlands native “Roland_NL” in 3rd position ($205,828) brought about heads-up play. It was then up to the Russian “Solovka” and “Calvin32” of the United States - through sheer will, decisive skill and ambiguous luck – to compete for the PokerStars WCOOP Bracelet and nearly half a million dollars.

In the end, Calvin32 persevered as the cards falling to his fortune. He was awarded $452,086.50 and the precious PokerStars WCOOP Bracelet. Solovka did not go away disappointed, pocketing a hefty $306,169.15 for an impressive 2nd place finish.
