September 7, 2007
Leading gaming group with casino and bingo interests, Rank, announced the introduction of a £1million jackpot and outdoor booths at its bingo halls, as an attempt to compensate for the potential losses due to this years smoking ban.
Rank will start offering £2 tickets for Mecca Millionaire, with a jackpot expected to be scooped every 45 days on average.
‘We are doing everything we can to make going to our bingo halls and casinos as attractive as possible.” Ian Burke, the Rank Chief Executive said.
‘The Millionaire game will be the biggest amount we have ever offered. And it will have rollovers if there is no winner.
"We are always looking at ways to make all our businesses have as wide an appeal as possible." Burke added.
Rank, which also runs Grosvenor Casinos Advertisement, had profits of £37.3million for the first six months of this year, a significant improvement on £21.9 million for the same first six months of last year’s period.
