The highly anticipated Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) VIII is finally underway, with Full Tilt Pro David Chiu hosting the first of 24 consecutive events. FTOPS VIII, running through May 18th, boasts an overall guaranteed prize pool of no less than $10 million; but that has not been the main topic of discussion. What everyone really wants to know is what are the three proposed ‘Mystery tournaments’ that Full Tilt Poker promises are “unlike anything FTOPS has ever seen before.”
The long awaited answer to that question is finally here as Full Tilt Poker has released the information regarding each scheduled ‘mystery tournament’.
The first ‘Mystery Tournament’ of FTOPS VIII will occur on May 8th as Event #3 – a No Limit Texas Hold’em Triple Shootout with seats capped at 729 and a guaranteed prize pool of $300,000. Direct buy-in for the first mystery tournament will be $500+$35.
The second FTOPS VIII ‘Mystery Tournament’, scheduled as Event #8 on May 11th, will consist of Heads-Up No Limit Texas Hold’em matches. Seating is capped at 2,028 with a guaranteed prize pool of $250,000. Direct buy-in for the second mystery tournament will also be $500+$35.
The third and final FTOPS VIII ‘Mystery Tournament’ will take place on May 15th as Event #17; a Six-Handed No Limit Texas Hold’em Quadruple Shootout. Seating for the event is capped at 1,296, guaranteeing a prize pool of $200,000. Direct buy-in for the final mystery tournament will be $200+$16.
Shootout style tournaments are something completely new to the Full Tilt Poker tournament line-up.
