A few hours after final table play finally began (months after the tournament actually started, the first player was sent to the Rail. James Akenhead found himself in a couple of very big hands against PokerStars player Kevin Schaffel.

First, Schaffel made a raise, betting 1.1 million in chips, Akenhead who was blind made the call.

Akenhead bet out into a flop of [Jd][9c][4c] after a moment of pondering. The bet waas just a touch more than the preflop bet, at 1.6 million.

Schaffel didn’t take that moment to ponder, he threw his six million in tournament chips, right into the middle, declaring himself all in..

Akenhead snap called with pocket kings. Unfortunately for Akenhead, he wasn’t the only WSOP finalist sitting on a big hand, Schaffel had Aces in his pocket. Bricks on the turn and the river, Schaffel scooped in a big pot.

Akenhead finished in 9th place taking home nothing extra for his troubles today. All of the final tablists were paid$1.3 million (the prize for 9th place) in July.
