Tiffany Michelle makes Woeful Business Decision

During Day 6 of the WSOP Main Event some controversy has arisen from the Poker News camp. Their reporter and sponsored pro poker player Tiffany Michelle had been running well and was the last female left in the field.

She was one of the final 27 players left in the field and had a great chance of making the final table, thus providing great publicity and exposure for the Poker News brand.

What Poker News didn’t count on however is Michelle changing her clothing in between days 5 and 6 of the Main Event. She was seen wearing an Ultimate Bet hat along with the UB jacket, on a day where she sat on the televised feature table. The Poker News badge was now hidden on the shirt inside the jacket. On the days before she was fully decked out in all of the Poker News gear for everyone to see.

Sources close to the situation are claiming that she approached Jeff Lisandro before the Main Event to get staked. He got her in touch with Australian poker player and part owner of Poker News, Tony G, who duly obliged and staked her for the event along with 34 others. He was hoping to raise the profile of the brand during the Main Event and is understandably unhappy with the conflict of interest that arose. It is alleged Poker News staked her in a deal that would see Michelle receive 33% of the winnings and raising her public profile for a possible move to Hollywood.

It seems that Michelle has taken advantage of the good nature of Tony G and that has come back to bite him on this one. If Michelle had made it to the final table she would have done herself a great disservice by taking the deal from UB. Sources close to Tony G claim that he could have negotiated a much better deal with PokerStars for her if she had bothered to call him and discuss the matter. Michelle seems to have snatched the cash from UB and taken advantage of a contract that wasn’t air tight. Whichever way you look at this, the outcome of future business relationships for the Tiffany Michelle could be in serious jeopardy.
