WSOP Day 3 Concludes: Money Reached with 798 Players Now Remaining

wsopThe 2016 World Series of Poker Main Event has concluded Day 3, seeing a starting field of 6,737 players whittled down to 798 remaining. As day 4 begins, Kenny Hallaert holds the chip lead at 1,709,000 with Jared Bleznick a close second at 1,607,000. Players are in the money and game play will continue over the weekend until the final table is named.

It was just after 12:00 AM in Las Vegas when the Main Event got down to 1,011 players remaining with everyone set to earn a cash prize. Unfortunately, Adam Furgatch was not one of these players. Furgatch busted out on the bubble, losing with Queen-9 to George Zisimopoulos’ A-7. Because he was the last to be eliminated before payouts would begin, the WSOP decided to give Furgatch a seat to next year’s Main Event, a nice gesture on their part.

Once the bubble burst, game play would continue until 798 players remained. The tournament would stop, with Hallaert in the lead. The remaining players will be back in action by noon today to see who will make it to the final table, which should be decided by Monday.

Several pros fell short on Day 3 with Michael Mizrachi, Phil Hellmuth, David Williams, Bertrand Grospellier and Vanessa Selbst among those who were eliminated from the competition. There are former World Series of Poker Main Event winners still in the mix that include Greg Raymer, Johnny Chan, Ryan Riess and Tom McEvoy. Each of the pros are low on chips returning to Day 4 with Chan leading the former winners with 588,000 in his stack.
