Fedor Holz Wins $111,111 One Drop; WSOP Main Event Starts

wsopThis past weekend was a busy one for the World Series of Poker as the $111,111 High Roller for One Drop event finished up and the Main Event began. The Main Event has already seen a good start with well over 2,000 players competing, while the One Drop event finished up with Fedor Holz earning the first place win.

Fedor Holz has been on a roll for 2016, having earned a total of five titles this year after earning the first place win in the $111,111 High Roller for One Drop event. The win gave Holz his first gold bracelet and just over $4.9 million in prize money.

The event saw 183 players competing with Holz entering the final day of the tournament 6th in chips. 13 players would return on the final day to see who would claim the tournament win. Holz would successfully knock out several players to gain a nice lead going in to heads up play.

When heads-up play began, Holz would hold a 3 to 2 chip lead over Dan Smith. Smith would actually take the lead at one point during the event but Holz would take down a massive hand to capture the lead once again. On the final hand, Holz would move all-in after Smith raised 2.5 million. Smith would call. Holz showed 7-8 clubs while Smith held A-9 of spaces. The flop would show 10-9-2 which gave Smith a pair of nines and Holz with the opportunity to earn a straight. The 6 on the turn would give Holz his straight, then an Ace of clubs showed up on the river, giving the pro a flush and the win.
