Tuesday Night Baseball: Twins @ White Sox

The Minnesota Twins will visit Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, where they will take on the White Sox. These two teams are on two different sides of the coin in their division. The Twins are 59-65, good enough for a distant second place in the American League Central division. They are 13 games behind the division-leading Cleveland Indians. The White Sox, however, are in a different place. They are in fourth place, with a 47-77 record. They are virtually eliminated at this points, sitting 25 games out. Minnesota is slightly favored in this matchup: at -116.

Pitching Matchup

For Minnesota, Jose Berrios will be on the mound. He is 11-8 on the year, and has a 3.75 ERA. He also has 157 strikeouts. Throughout his career, Berrios has pitched better during night games than day games. Since this is a night game, this fact could give him an edge. He will definitely be looking to get ahead of the White Sox hitters, who have shown signs of brilliance, but have also looked hapless at times. For the White Sox, the call up that Chicago fans have been awaiting ever since December 6th, 2016, has happened. Michael Kopech will finally step on the Mound on the South Side. He has been tearing it up in Triple-A, going 4-0 through his last seven starts, and has an outstanding 1.84 ERA. He has shown to have a fastball that easily hits triple digits and other electric pitches. If nothing else, he will immediately become one of the most exciting pitchers to watch in the league.

Minnesota Twins

Eddie Rosario is leading the way offensively for the Twins, as he has been all season. His average sits at .291 currently, and has driven in 71 runs. Coming from the left side of the plate, he should have a better chance of hitting Kopech than his right handed teammates. Facing a pitcher that throws harder than he has probably faced in his career, Rosario will likely need to focus on the outer half of the plate to get hits. Another hitter that could come into play for Minnesota is the veteran Joe Mauer. He also hits from the left side, and has had the opportunity to face some hard throwers throughout his career. He is currently having a below average season, batting .272, less than his career average of .306. He has driven in 38 runs.

Chicago White Sox

The best hitter for the White Sox (That is on the MLB roster) is Jose Abreu. He is leading in every category. His average is .272, and he has driven in 78 runs. He has also hit 22 home runs, a stat he will like to build on during this game. The White Sox will need him to contribute if they are to win this game.

White Sox Top Twins

The Twins are the better team in this matchup, but the White Sox have momentum. They have been playing decently lately, and they have their Golden Boy coming up from the minors. I have to give this to the underdogs. Bet on the White Sox at -106.
