Thursday Night Football: Eagles at Giants

It was not expected at this point in the season that the reigning champs would be better than 2-3, and the Giants would be better than 1-4 after a poor season last year. Well, it has not worked out for either side just yet.

With Jay Ajayi now out for the year, we will see which, if any, Eagles RB is able to step up. The Eagles are a field goal favorite over the Giants.

Champions Off to Slow Start

Carson Wentz has been looking good in his return from an ACL tear, as he has completed 67.2% of his passes, with 914 yards and five TD passes. He has been sacked twelve times already this year though, which is concerning. Between all the running-backs they employ, they average over 100 rushing yards per game, but with no one back getting it done on their own it is tough to spot any consistency. Zach Ertz has been far and away the team’s top target, with 41 catches and 437 yards. There are always different areas to improve in, and Philly has a number of them.

To get it done in this game, a strong start from Carson Wentz can go a long way. They have struggled out of the gate in most games, and are 1-3 since tier win in the season’s first week. The defense has been good enough to keep them in games, but that is only half the battle. Mike Wallace’s injury and Alshon Jeffery just coming back have been factors slowing them down, but now that Jeffery has returned, he will play a huge part in their success.

Giants with Drama All Over

While the team has struggled to win games, Saquon Barkley has been off to a great start, as has OBJ once again. Barkley has 308 rushing yards and 3 TD’s, and 31 catches for 274 more yards and 3 TD’s. OBJ has caught 39 of 59 targets for 462 yards and a TD, and just threw a TD pass to Saquon on a trick play last game. Eli is completing 71.7% of passes, and has 6 TD’s and 3 INT’s this year. His longest pass play is only for 40 yards, so we’ll see if that will get any better. They have one of the league’s worst pass-rushes, which is a big part of their struggle.

They need Eli to play well to have a chance against the Eagles. At 1-4, it is safe to say they are fighting for their season in this game. Going from 1-5 to the postseason is very tough, and this team doesn’t seem to have enough weapons to get hot immediately. They need to have their A-game in Jersey tomorrow.

Eagles get the W and move to .500, drop the Giants to 1-5

Yeah, sorry Giants fans. Once again, it is just not your year. Ever since the boat picture before the playoff game, nothing has gone right.

300 yards and three TD’s from Carson Wentz will help to carry the team to victory.
