Sunday Night Football Affair: New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys

It’s hard to say which team underperformed more in their season opener, but regardless, both the Giants and Cowboys are certainly disappointed to be 0-1. The Giants offensive line did virtually nothing to protect Eli while Dak Prescott looked like a bottom-tier QB.

The most exciting part of this NFC East rivalry will be watching Zeke and Saquon leading their respective rushing attacks.

New York Giants

Aside from one huge TD run, Saquon Barkley did not look good or able to find the holes in his team’s season opener. Odell Beckham Jr. however, did get back to his roots as the heartbeat of the team’s offense. He didn’t get much help from Evan Engram or Sterling Shephard, who didn’t do much. They got to Blake Bortles only one time, something they will likely struggle with again this week against one of football’s best offensive lines.

The key to success in the next game will be putting points on the board early. The Cowboys put up just eight points last week, and their offense was completely stuck in the neutral. So getting out in front will put immediate pressure on them. The Cowboys allowed SIX sacks last week, and so putting pressure on Dak Prescott could result in some bad throws and picks.

Dallas Cowboys

YIKES. That is the one word we can use to describe their play last week. They scored only eight points, didn’t have a play longer than twenty yards, and despite limiting the Panthers to just sixteen points, still fell. They didn’t even try to call plays for Tavon Austin, and there were just so many issues.

They did sack Cam three times last week, as their pass rush could be one of their strengths moving forward. There are a lot of areas they need to improve in, including creating more lanes for Zeke to run through. This year’s team will go as he does, and any time he turns in a performance like last week (15 rushes, 69 yards) they won’t win. It’s impressive by most standards, but not his.

In order to take down the Giants, this team will obviously need to score more than eight points. Try and get Zeke going out the outset, and look to get creative with Tavon Austin. His early success with the Rams was no fluke, and he should be getting more touches, whether as a returner, receiver, or running back. Keep going to Cole Beasley, and get to Eli IMMEDIATELY. Put the pressure on the Giants offense to beat you.

Giants win on the road, improve to 1-1

In the latest edition of the NFC East rivalry, the Giants will prove on Sunday Night Football that they are better than last season. Eli is going to have an impressive performance that silences the doubters for at least a week.

90 yards and a TD from Saquon Barkley, and nine receptions, 100+ yards, and a TD from OBJ will help power the team to victory.
