San Jose Sharks at Colorado Avalanche: Game 6 Betting Preview

The San Jose Sharks will look to punch their ticket to the Western Conference Finals on Monday night against the Colorado Avalanche. San Jose is the top seed left in the Western Conference and has to be considered as one of the favorites to lift Lord Stanley’s Cup. The Avalanche have been impressive all season long and will do their best to extend this series to seven games at home in Game 6.

The Avalanche pulled off a stunning upset of the Calgary Flames in the first round. Colorado lost the series opener but then won four straight games to eliminate the top-seeded Flames. San Jose needed a miraculous comeback to get past the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 7 in the first round but have looked sharp in this series. The Sharks are a veteran team that knows how to end a series. Colorado is -125 over the San Jose Sharks in Game 6 on Monday night.

Grubauer Leading Avalanche Charge

The Colorado Avalanche have a ton of offensive firepower, but it has been their goalie leading the way so far in the playoffs. Philipp Grubauer has been phenomenal so far this postseason, stopping 93 percent of the shots he has faced. The Avalanche want to win games with their offense, but it has helped having one of the best goalies in the NHL in net for them. Grubauer has given up just two goals in the last two games.

Colorado has a ton of young talent, but they didn’t show up in Game 5 of the series. Center Nathan MacKinnon has been powering the Avalanche offense in these playoffs, and he will need to be great to keep this series alive. MacKinnon has tallied a team-high six goals and 13 points in the playoffs for the Avalanche. Look for the Avalanche offense to break out at home in Game 6.

Sharks Need More Offense

The San Jose Sharks managed to get enough goals to win Game 5, but their offense has let them down in this series. Tomas Hertl was the only player to score for the Sharks in the Game 5 win, and he has tallied eight goals so far in these playoffs. Center Logan Couture leads the team with nine goals and 13 points in these playoffs, and the Sharks will be looking at him to deliver again in Game 6. San Jose has a ton of veteran talent on the roster, and they know how to close out a playoff series.

Goaltending has been an issue at times for the Sharks in the playoffs, but Martin Jones appears to have figured things out. Jones was replaced at times during the playoffs by Aaron Dell, but it looks like he is taking control of this job. The veteran has stopped 91 percent of the shots he has faced in the playoffs but was magnificent in allowing just one goal in the Game 5 victory. San Jose allowed 3.2 goals per game during the regular season, and defense has always been an issue.

Avalanche Even Up Series

These two teams have been extremely competitive all series long, and that shouldn’t change in Game 6. Colorado has a ton of young talent, while the Sharks are a proven veteran team. Look for the Avalanche to use their speed in this game to even the series up with a victory. Bet the Colorado Avalanche -125 over the San Jose Sharks in Game 6 of this series.
