Oklahoma Sooners at West Virginia Mountaineers Betting Pick and Prediction

On Friday night, the Oklahoma Sooners travel to Morgantown to face off against the West Virginia Mountaineers in a battle for a spot in the Big 12 Championship game. The winner of this game will be the Big 12 regular season champs and will face off against Texas in the Big 12 Championship game, assuming Texas gets past Kansas on Friday. If Texas were to lose that game, these two teams would battle it out again in a week in the championship game.

Sooners

Oklahoma enters this game 10-1 and is ranked number six in the nation, just two spots shy of being in the College Football Playoffs. If they win this game against West Virginia and win the Big 12 Championship, then they will have a strong chance of making the College Football Playoffs. Oklahoma has won five games in a row and is coming off a 55-40 victory over Kansas last week. Freshman quarterback Kyler Murray was unstoppable in this game, as he has been for most of the year. He threw for 272 yards and two touchdowns, but he also did a lot of damage with his legs. He rushed 8 times for 99 yards and three scores.

Mountaineers

The Mountaineers enter this game 8-2 on the season and ranked number 13 in the nation. They are basically eliminated from the playoffs unless a miracle happens. West Virginia could feel a little defeated coming into this game after suffering a difficult loss to Oklahoma St last weekend in Stillwater. West Virginia took a 10-point lead with seven and a half minutes to play. Oklahoma St scored 14 straight with the game-winning touchdown coming with just 42 seconds to play. This loss destroyed any hope that West Virginia had at making the CFP, so we will see how they bounce back.

Dueling Teams

Oklahoma has been one of the most prolific offenses in college football all season long, averaging 49.5 points per game. They have had a balanced attack, averaging 315 passing yards and 261 rushing yards each game. Dual-threat QB Kyler Murray is the reason for their success, and is a nightmare for any defense, and should cause problems here against West Virginia.

West Virginia has been almost as good on offense as Oklahoma has been all year, averaging 40.9 points per game. They rely heavily on the veteran arm of Will Grier, a sure-fire NFL quarterback for years to come. The Mountaineers are averaging 340 yards through the air and 162 on the ground. The Oklahoma defense has allowed 426 total yard per game and has given up loads of points to less capable offenses.

Sooners vs. Mountaineers Prediction

Oklahoma enters -3 with the total set at 85. Will Grier should have a field day against the nonexistent defense of Oklahoma. Oklahoma will be able to score a fair share of points as well, but the Mountaineer defense has proven they are a little more capable of making stops than Oklahoma. This will be a shootout and will be tons of fun to watch. I like West Virginia plus the points as well as the over.
