NHL Game 7 Betting Preview: Colorado Avalanche at San Jose Sharks

For the second straight night, NHL fans will get to enjoy a Game 7 in the Western Conference Playoffs. The Colorado Avalanche and San Jose Sharks have had an extremely competitive series through the first six games, and it is fitting that it will end with a Game 7. Colorado netted an overtime goal to win Game 6 and force Game 7 back in San Jose.

San Jose got down 3-1 in their first-round series against the Vegas Golden Knights before recovering to win the final three games. The Sharks missed out on a chance to close out the series in six games but will be on home ice in Game 7. Colorado was able to eliminate top-seeded Calgary in just five games in the first round. The San Jose Sharks are -138 over the Colorado Avalanche in Game 7.

Sharks Could Get Pavelski Back

Center Joe Pavelski has yet to make an appearance in this series, but that could change for Game 7. The Sharks are hoping to get one of their leaders back, and he could help them score some more goals. Pavelski had two goals and two assists in the first round and has plenty of playoff experience. Logan Couture has been the offensive star in the postseason for the Sharks and leads the team with nine goals and 14 points. The Sharks have plenty of offensive talent, but they have been inconsistent in this series.

Goaltender Martin Jones really struggled to begin the playoffs but has been stepping up in a big way for the Sharks. Jones has stopped just over 90 percent of the shots he has faced in the postseason but has made some great saves against the Avalanche. The Sharks used their offense to lead them in the regular season, but they need Jones in this game.

Avalanche Have Plenty of Young Talent

The Colorado Avalanche are loaded with young talent, and it will be interesting to see how they react to playing in their first Game 7. Center Nathan MacKinnon has been a force in this series and leads the Avalanche with six goals and 13 points in the postseason. Mikko Rantanen was one of the best players in the regular season, and he has chipped in with five goals and eight assists. Colorado will try to speed up the game to create some great scoring chances.

The Avalanche have a terrific goaltender as well in Philipp Grubauer. Grubauer was relatively unknown to begin the playoffs, but he is allowing just 2.23 goals per game and has already recorded a shutout in this postseason. The Avalanche gave up less than three goals per game all season long, and they feel that their offense can win this game if they keep the Sharks to three or fewer goals.

Veteran Sharks Win Series Finale

Colorado definitely has the talent to go into San Jose and win this game, but they just have so much youth on the roster. The Avalanche can score goals in a hurry, but they also put their goalie in harm’s way on occasion. San Jose has been in this position before, and they have already tallied a Game 7 win this postseason. Look for the Sharks to get just enough offense to advance past the Colorado Avalanche. Bet the San Jose Sharks -138 over the Colorado Avalanche.
