Both Teams Have Been Dominant

The Patriots are coming off a dominant 41-28 win over the Chargers. The score is a little closer than the game was as the Pats jumped out to a 35-7 lead at the half. The quarterback went 34 for 44 for 343 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions. Sony Michel had an incredible game on the ground, going for 129 yards on 24 carries and scored 3 touchdowns. Julian Edelman went off and was the leading receiver for New England, catching 9 balls for 151 yards. James White also had a spectacular game, as he caught 15 passes out of the backfield for 97 yards. Phillip Dorsett caught the lone receiving touchdown for the Patriots and tallied 41 yards on 4 catches.

The Chiefs are also coming off a dominant performance in their last game, beating the Colts by a score of 31-13. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes went 27 for 41 for 278 yards but did not tally a touchdown or an interception. Damien Williams had a solid game running the football, turning 25 carries into 129 yards and a touchdown. Two other Chiefs players went for a rushing touchdown, as Tyreek Hill ran the ball one time for a 36-yard score and Darrell Williams scored a touchdown but only had 9 yards on 3 carries. Travis Kelce led the Chiefs in receiving with 108 yards on 5 catches. Tyreek Hill had 8 catches for 72 yards, and Sammy Watkins went for 62 yards but lost a fumble.

Offensive Duel

The Patriots have been solid on offense all season long, averaging 27.3 points per game which is 4th in the NFL. They average 393.4 total yards per game, which ranks 5th in the league. They do more damage running the ball than passing, as they average 127.3 rushing yards per game and 266.1 passing yards per game, which ranks 5th and 8th in the NFL, respectively. The defense has not been as great but has been able to keep opponents off the scoreboard. They give up 359.1 total yards per game but are holding opponents to just 20.3 points per game, which is 6th in the league. They give up 264.4 passing yards per game, and that could be troublesome facing Patrick Mahomes. They also give up 112.7 rushing yards per contest.

The Chiefs have been the best offense in football all season long, and they are first in both points scored and total yards per game. They put up 35.3 points a game and average 425.6 total yards a game. Their passing attack has been tremendous as they average 309.7 passing yards a game, which ranks 3rd in the NFL. The run game has fallen off a little bit since the departure of Kareem Hunt, but they are still averaging 115.9 rushing yards a game which is 16th in the league. The defense, on the other hand, has been one of the worst in the league this year. They give up 26.3 points per game, which is 24th in the league. They are last in both total yards allowed and passing yards allowed a game with 405.5 and 273.4, respectively. They give up 132.1 rushing yards a game.

Patriots vs. Chiefs Prediction

The Chiefs come in at -3. Both teams have enjoyed solid seasons, but I think the experience is the key in this one. The Patriots have been here many times before, and most Chiefs players have not had this experience at all. I think that Tom Brady and Bill Belichick will dial up another great game plan and escape Kansas City with a win. Take the Patriots +3.

  • Bet on the Patriots +3

  • Bet on Chiefs -3
