NBA Playoffs Betting Preview: Los Angeles Clippers vs. Golden State Warriors

If you were cryogenically frozen and awoke just in time for the NBA playoffs, you will see an LA vs. GS postseason game coming up tomorrow. Wow, so LeBron got in? Anybody that didn’t follow the season this year would be expecting that LA means the Lakers. NOPE. These are the LA Clippers, and they are ready to try and make some history against the 2X reigning champs in the opening round.

Golden State should be at full strength, excluding big man for Damian Jones, heading into the postseason. They are trying to win their fourth title in five years. Looking to complete the classic Phil Jackson trifecta.

Clippers:

It is rare for a team to feature two of their three leading scorers in reserve roles. Well, that is life as an LA Clipper. Lou Williams led the team with his 20 points per game, and he made one single start the entire season. The 32-year-old is ready to try and help the Clippers make history. Montrezl Harrell, the #3 leading scorer, is a guy who started just five games this year but was one of the toughest guys to stop when he gets going in the paint. He looks to have a legitimate future with this organization with how effectively he played with his minutes boost.

Any chance to win even one game for this team will only come with consistent defense. We know they can score the ball with all of the shooters they have, but they need to try and slow 2 of the Warriors three scorers if they want to keep it competitive. Between Durant/Curry/Klay, only one of them can be on their game, if any.

Warriors:

This is a team that gets the majority of their production from their starters, unlike their opponents. There are no secrets as to who the stars of this team are. Draymond and DeMarcus Cousins, for all that they are capable of, and how much they can affect the game, are just role players for the team’s actual BIG 3. They will likely knock down more threes than any team they face, and that is primarily coming from those three. However, the Warriors will not just be able to brush their opponents aside.

Golden State is going to need to get some production from their reserves to ensure victory. They need to make sure they find shots for the likes of Alzonfo McKinnie and Quinn Cook. They could run a few pick and rolls with Bogut/Looney. If they can find mid-range looks for Shaun Livingston. The bench has to step up.

Warriors take game 1

The Warriors will be winning the first game in their series with LA, and there’s no question about that. It will be close, however, so bettors, make sure you take LAC +12.5. Gallinari and Lou Will are going to play well and keep them in it.
